Absent
Re: Absent
Bit of a shock to have Justhost close my account without warning. I had 15 websites on their servers and they all went down when their servers couldn't cope with the World Cup traffic to Fieldhockey.com - despite an unlimited traffic promise. Now I just have to rebuild all the sites while running Fieldhockey.com during a period when the Indian press are destroying rainforests with the acres of print they are putting out about hockey.
Sorry if all posts up to now have become Guest posts. I need to find a small plugin that links the Forum to the Community Builder names and make it work to rectify that problem - I think.
Re: Absent
YADH
Perhaps you can tell me then how England Hockey can continue spending over £7M a year with a wage bill of £2.3M in the future?
Perhaps you can also tell me then if hockey in this Country is really healthy? Since nearly all the Clubs are suffering with membership. Clubs now have older players getting older and the rest below the age of 18, if we were to take out all the youth, most Clubs would be left with one or two teams at most. There is currently a total lack of reality in the game.
Re: Absent
Are you sure you are talking to all the Clubs or just a few?
By the way, if you are talking about the East, what thriving hockey are you referring to, I see the East Region as one in serious decline with more and more Clubs dropping out of the National League, which is not surprising when one sees the incredibly poor standard in the East Premier Leagues. If they are thriving why are they not performing?
Re: Absent
YADH, you say:
Its two guys talking about how they want to go back to the old days
One of the things about older people is they are more familiar with history with a greater depth of experience to call on.
So we remember a Hockey Association which was run in the main by volunteers, which had cash in the bank; won the Olympic Gold Medal; had very big sponsors for the National League that was televised; had an indoor league also with a very large sponsor; had excellent communication chanels with its Regions, Counties and Clubs; at one time had Womens hockey practically filling Wembley and televised live; staged a World Cup that was also televised and filled a football ground; that had a fantastic Under 21 Regional competition; the list goes on and on!
Somewhere, YAHD, you must tell me how hockey has moved forward and improved both in standard of play and organisation, as I read it, our performance is worse, we have lost our sponsors and practically nothing gets televised. But, hey, we should not complain, we have £7M a year to blow pretending we are great.
